About the Index
This Index is the first of its kind and magnitude in Kenya. It provides Kenyans and other interested stakeholders with robust statistics by ward on the perception of constituency residents over MPs, Senators, and Women Representatives’ performance.
Data Collection
Conducted between January – April 2026 across all 47 counties, 290 constituencies, and 1,450 wards, with an overall sample of 87,286. Each county was treated as an individual universe with a cluster sample ranging from 738 to 5,100 respondents, guided by population and ward count.
A first wave (Jan–Mar 2026, 36,200 participants) was followed by a second wave of 51,086 participants to ensure each constituency had at least 300 respondents. Sampling frames used population proportionate to size, guided by census data, and accounted for age, gender, and other demographics. Data was collected via Computer Assisted Telephone Interviews (CATI) and analyzed in SPSS.
The Likert Scale Defined
Residents rated their MPs, Senators, and Women Representatives on a 1–10 scale, where 1 was very poor and 10 was excellent. The average rating per constituency/county determined each leader’s final score.
