Kajiado County

Kajiado County is located in Rift Valley region and borders Narok county to the West, Nakuru County, Kiambu County and Nairobi County to the North, Machakos County, Makueni County and Taita-Taveta County to the East and Tanzania to the South constituting one of the five counties that share the country’s border with Tanzania. It covers an area of 21,871.1Km².

According to the 2019 Kenya Population and Housing Census the population was 1,117,840. It has an annual growth rate of 5.5% and a population density of 51 people per Km².

Main Economic Activities include pastoralism, livestock herding, tourism and agriculture. Livestock products include poultry, dairy, beef, hides and skins. Agriculture is practiced through irrigation and greenhouses owing to the arid nature of the county with horticulture being the major practice.

Kajiado County has five (5) constituencies divided into 25 electoral wards.
